Eligibility for Admission to the PhD Programme

To apply for the PhD Programme at KUHS, either full-time or part-time, you must meet the following criteria based on the KUHS PhD Regulations 2018 (Clause 3.1):

Educational Qualification:

• You must have a Master’s Degree or Post Graduate Degree in the relevant or related subject with at least 50% marks.
• If your marks are not specified in the degree, it will be assumed to be 50%.
• KUHS must recognize the degree as eligible for PhD admission.
• You need to pass the PhD entrance examination unless you have an exemption.

Additional Requirements for Part-Time PhD

As per Clause 3.2 in the KUHS PhD Regulations 2018, candidates applying for a part-time PhD must fulfill the following criteria:

Categories of Eligible Candidates:

• Permanent academic/teaching/scientific/research staff of institutions affiliated to KUHS or its academic centers, with at least three years of continuous approved post-PG teaching/research experience.
• Permanent academic/teaching/scientific/research staff of other universities, higher learning institutions, R&D laboratories under Government of India/Kerala, with at least three years of continuous approved post-PG teaching/research experience.
• Permanent staff of KUHS, affiliated institutions, other higher learning institutions, R&D laboratories under Government of India/Kerala, with at least five years of continuous service and three research publications in peer-reviewed and indexed journals.

NOC Requirement:

• Candidates must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their institution’s head, allowing them to pursue a part-time PhD and complete course-related requirements at a recognized research center.

• Obtain a User ID and Password, then proceed to fill in your personal and academic details.
• Ensure you have scanned images of your signature, photograph, and academic qualifications for uploading.

Application Fee

• The PhD Entrance Examination fee is ₹2600/- (Rupees Two Thousand Six Hundred Only), payable online.

Entrance Examination Details

Type and Duration:

• The entrance examination consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with a total of 100 questions.
• Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes.

Subjects Covered:

• Research Methodology and General Aptitude: Approximately 60 marks.
• Biostatistics: Approximately 20 marks.
• Research Ethics: Approximately 20 marks.

Qualifying Marks:

• General category: 50% and above.
• SC/ST category: 45% and above.

Validity and Results:

• The results will be valid for four consecutive admissions after this entrance examination.
• Qualified candidates will receive a pass certificate mailed to their registered address.
