State-wise Seat of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas
According to the Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme, one Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is to be set up in each District in a phased manner. At present, 653 Vidyalayas are functional in 27 States and 08 Union Territories. The State-wise distribution of functional JNVs is as under:
A maximum of eighty students are admitted in Class VI in each Vidyalaya through a Selection Test subject to availability of suitable candidates. The Samiti reserves the right to reduce the seats to forty or to withhold result and/or withhold admission and/or conduct of JNVST in case adequate accommodation is not available or any other administrative exigency.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidate has to study class V in any of the Govt. or Govt. recognized schools located in the same District during 2024-25.
- They need proof of residency from their parent.
- Students must be born between 01-05-2013 and 31-07-2015.
- Candidates from NIOS ‘B’ certificate courses must meet age requirements.
- Aadhaar number or enrolment is mandatory.
- 75% of seats are reserved for rural candidates.
- Candidates who have passed class V before the session 2024-25 or repeated candidates are not allowed.

Application Fee
The application fee for the JNV Selection Test 2025 is completely free of cost. There are no charges involved for candidates applying for admission to Class 6 in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) through this test.
