ISHAN UDAY SPECIAL SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR NORTH EASTERN REGION 2025: The University Grants Commission (UGC) implements the Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region to promote higher education and support students belonging to economically weaker sections of the North Eastern states of India.
Under this scheme, 10,000 scholarships are awarded annually, with ₹8,000 per month for 10 months in a year. 50% of the slots are reserved for students of Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, and Management, while the other 50% are reserved for students in Science, Engineering, Technology, Medical, Agriculture, and Forestry programs.
Selection is done based on state-wise merit, and students can apply through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to students for pursuing undergraduate degree programs in recognized institutions.

Eligibility Criteria for ISHAN UDAY SPECIAL SCHOLARSHIP 2025
- Students must be domicile of NER states — Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura.
- Passed Class XII or equivalent from a recognized board.
- Admitted in the first year of a regular UG degree program in an eligible institution.
- Family income must be below ₹4.5 lakh per annum.
- Students pursuing through regular mode only are eligible.
- Students admitted through Management Quota or distance mode are not eligible.
- Only first UG degree students are eligible.
